 Course Overview:

This 3 day course provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills they need to become first aiders in the workplace. The programme offers both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.

It meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First aid) Regulations.

Candidate Suitability

There are no specific entry requirements for this programme. This programme is suitable for all learners of all backgrounds and job roles. Learners should want to become first aiders and be prepared to undertake a dedicated programme of learning.

Course Aims and Outcomes

The programme will teach and train candidates to deal with the following first aid topics:

·         The role of the first aider ·         Circulatory & respiratory system
·        Incident & casualty assessment ·         Wounds & bleeding
·         CPR & AED (use of a defibrillator) ·         Eye injuries
·         Body check / recovery position ·         Shock
·         Unconscious casualty ·        Anaphylaxis
·         Management of a seizure ·         Angina & heart attack
·         Choking ·         Stroke
·        External bleeding & shock ·         Burns & scalds
·         Minor injuries ·         Poisonous Substances
·         Hypoxia ·         Fractures, dislocations, sprains & strains
·         Chest injuries ·         Head & spinal injuries
·        Asthma & hyperventilation ·         Epilepsy & diabetes

 

Course Delivery

This programme has a packed schedule, delivered over a three day timescale. The programme is accredited and approved by Qualsafe, the awarding organisation for First Aid training.

Our tutors are industry specialists with decades of first aid experience. The course is classroom based and includes ‘first aid simulation’ (practical, hands on examples of how to deal with a variety of first aid situations). This will involve learners undertaking role play with other learners.

Assessments

The programme is assessed throughout, using a range of ongoing assessment methods. In addition, there are two multi-choice assessment papers that learners need to achieve to complete the course.

Duration

This programme runs for 3 days, starting at 09.00am and finishing at 4.30pm. Lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day for all learners.

Delegates are advised to wear comfortable clothing as you will be on the floor practicing CPR, body check & recovery position. Please do not wear a skirt/dress.
