Job Title: Management Tutor/Assessor

Reporting to: Training Manager

Responsible for: Teaching and Assessing Level 2 to Level 5 ILM (or equivalent) Apprentices and delivery of up to Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Math.

Position in Company:

Report to the Training Team Manager. Responsible for own group of learners completing apprenticeships frameworks and trailblazers in Team Leading and Operational Management and support delivery of classroom learning for level 2 to level 5 ILM courses as part of Apprenticeship.

Main Purpose of Job:

  • Responsible for assessing learners on all types of vocational programmes within the Centre’s Training division. This can include the NVQ, technical certificate and/or functional skills;
  • Deliver and assess Trailblazer standards in Management
  • To adhere to ISO procedures relating directly to the assessment of learners;
  • Ensure all appropriate records are maintained and that all quality assurance is followed;
  • Carry out detailed and acceptable initial assessment of learners in line with company procedures;
  • Carry out full learner induction programmes and manage all funding sign-up paperwork requirements;
  • Assist with the preparation of the company’s Self-Assessment Report and Quality Improvement Plan;
  • Continually ‘sell’ and support the promotion of Apprenticeships and other training as identified;
  • Work in collaboration with the other members of the team to provide a first class training service;
  • Work with the Centre’s administrators to co-ordinate learner enrolment, registration & certification;
  • Attend all department meetings as appropriate (team, assessor, standardisation, OTL etc);
  • Maintain assessor competence through a range of CPD activities and maintain a CPD record;
  • Support the Training Team Manager on awarding organisation moderation visits;
  • Active involvement in supporting and achieving the departmental financial performance;
  • To assist with training and supporting new and existing staff to ensure a standardised approach;
  • To assist in the development of new courses/qualifications to be delivered by the Centre
  • Visit learners in their place of work to carry out assessment and training practices;
  • Plan, agree and monitor learner performance against defined targets and measure achievements;
  • Carry out functional skills training with learners with the guidance set by awarding organisations
  • Other general duties in the day to day running of a small business to support the team

Anticipated percentage of your working week which will be taken by the above tasks: 90%

Other duties including meetings, training, seminars, and verification of learner work: 10%

Essential requirements of an NVQ & Functional Skills Assessor:

  • Appropriate competence and knowledge of Management qualifications and awarding bodies
  • Appropriate assessment qualification (D32, D33, A1, A2)
  • Appropriate new assessment qualification or upgrade (PTLLs, DTLLs, QTS)
  • Appropriate occupational competence/experience in assessment areas (Management)
  • Appropriate evidence of delivering functional skills or key skills in the past (if evidence is not available, employees may be expected to train in individual areas to meet the appropriate standard)
  • Worked successfully with Ofsted grade 1 or 2 work based providers
