We are looking for a Raw Material Technologist to join our existing, dynamic team. To be considered for this role you will be educated to degree level in fabric technology or qualified by relevant industrial experience.

The Person

Minimum 5 years’ experience directly related to spinning and weaving both natural, synthetic and blended fibres.
Experience of creating and developing both spun yarn and woven fabric specifications.
Be commercially astute and understand “total value” encompassing and balancing both skilled yet aggressive price negotiation versus “Cost of Quality”.
Be aware of new technical developments within the fibre and woven materials industries.
Be able to travel extensively worldwide to attend trade fairs and visit established and new potential suppliers.
Capable communicator and skilled negotiator with a proven track record.

The Role

Develop systems to monitor and report base fabric performance and quality, not only from a finished fabric aspect but with consideration of customer application and performance.
Be able to modify or develop woven products at the raw material stage to give optimum value, quality and performance.
To advise the buying department if we are getting “best value”.
Develop detailed Technical Fabric Specifications with our suppliers.
Commercially negotiate on quality related issues with the supply base and recover unbudgeted losses.
