Course Overview:

This qualification aims to provide learners with the skills needed to work within a team leader role. The programme develops the skills and knowledge of those seeking to move up a Team Leader role. This qualification was developed by the Institute of Leadership & Management and meets the needs of all types of businesses.

Candidate Suitability:

Ideal for learners who have team leading responsibilities but no formal training, and are serious about developing their abilities. It’s particularly suited to team leaders seeking to make the transition from working in a team to being the Team Leader.

Course Outline:

This 2 day programme allows learners to gain valuable experience in the core elements of team leading & you will be asked to complete 2 assignments as part of the course. The course will look at the following areas:

Unit Titles
Understanding Effective Team Working

Identify the characteristics of an effective team & the advantages of working in a team.

Identify possible barriers to effective team working.

 

Setting Team Objectives in the Workplace

Understand methods of time management & be able to set, prioritise & monitor SMART objectives for the team.

 

Developing Yourself as a Team Leader

Understand the roles and responsibilities of the team leader & be able to seek feedback on their workplace performance to identify strengths, weaknesses & areas for improvement.

 

Course Delivery:

This programme is delivered using a range of taught sessions, group and individual activities and assessment. Once registered, you will be granted ‘Studying Membership’ status within the Institute whilst you undertake your programme. The programme provided a blended learning environment where candidates will develop the knowledge they need to become competent Team Leaders.

Course Assessment:

Learners are asked to complete 2 assignments in their own time and will require use of a laptop/pc/ipad to complete them on/keep in touch with the course tutor via email. The assignments are designed to allow learners to demonstrate their understanding of and ability to apply the topics covered. These assignments will be verified by the awarding organisation through external moderation.

Progression Opportunities:

Candidates who achieve the Level 2 qualification can progress to the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership & Management.
