This qualification aims to provide learners with the skills needed to work within a middle management job role. The programme consolidates existing skills and knowledge and develops those needed by middle managers.
This qualification was developed by the Institute of Leadership & Management and meets the needs of all types of businesses.
This qualification is designed for new and aspiring department heads, regional team leaders and other middle managers – ready to get to grips with the role, gain comprehensive business knowledge and develop the skills needed to lead at this level.
This 5 day programme allows learners to gain valuable experience in the core elements of management. You will be asked to complete 1 assignment per unit. The course will look at the following areas:
|Developing yourself & others
Identify preferred learning styles; Explore different methods of identifying training needs; Recognise support mechanisms for development and potential barriers to development; Methods of monitoring self-development and the development of others.
To develop understanding and ability to manage meetings as required by practicing, or potential, first-line managers; types of meeting; effective preparation; roles and responsibilities.
Understand the importance of effective communication in management; Be able to develop effective communication skills as a reflective manager; Body language & non-verbal communication;
|Understanding performance management
Informal & formal assessment; SMART objective setting, feedback mechanisms; managing underperformance.
|Planning change in the workplace
Causes of change – SWOT & PESTLE analysis; methods for planning for change; managing change
This programme is delivered using a range of taught sessions, group and individual activities and assessment.
Once registered, you will be granted ‘Studying Membership’ status within the Institute whilst you undertake your programme.
Learners are asked to complete 5 assignments in their own time and will require use of a laptop/pc/ipad to complete them on/keep in touch with the course tutor via email. The assignments are designed to allow learners to demonstrate their understanding of and ability to apply the topics covered. These assignments will be verified by the awarding organisation through external moderation.
Candidates who achieve the Level 4 qualification can progress to higher level management qualifications.

This programme is run over 5 days. It can also be designed and delivered on a bespoke, in company basis.
Each day starts at 9am and finishes at 4pm.
