TEXTILE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS

LEVEL 2 TEXTILE MANUFACTURING OPERATIVE

The Textile Manufacturing Operative apprenticeship standard has been specifically designed by the industry’s leading businesses and supported by the sector’s Livery companies to provide the next generation of textile employees with the skills they need in textile production and manufacturing. The programme covers the main requirements of working in textile production and includes elements of off-the-job learning, blended with on-the-job practical learning. This apprenticeship will allow learners to progress onto the new Level 4 ‘Technical’ apprenticeships, where appropriate. Technical apprenticeships are available in a variety of occupational roles, including weaving, dyeing, colouration, finishing, laboratory science, engineering and leadership/management.

LEVEL 4 TEXTILE TECHNICAL SPECIALIST

This Apprenticeship is aimed at technical roles within textile and fashion advanced manufacturing companies. The programme is for production/manufacturing roles that involve the production of textiles for woven or finished fabrics. The broad purpose of the occupation is to ensure that the technical capabilities of the plant, the product and the machinery are appropriately and innovatively fined-tuned to meet customer expectations. This involves the use of specialist textile machinery and equipment, either to WEAVE or to FINISH textiles which service the world’s textile supply chain.

The Textile Technical Specialist is a core and options apprenticeship standard. The options are as follows:-

1) Technical Weaving – this occupation covers the whole of the weaving production operation in an advanced textile manufacturing company
2) Technical Finishing – this occupation covers the whole of the textile finishing operation in an advanced textile manufacturing company
