We are looking to appoint a Cut & Sew Developer /BOF (bought out fabric) support within our UK team based in Huddersfield.
Reporting To: Creative Solutions Co-ordinator.
Main Purpose of Job: To work closely with our customers to develop their requirements and identify areas for growth with an enhanced development focus.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
Work with existing and new customers (closely involving sales, planning and operations) on new and existing development projects in line with their requirements.
Work proactively with existing and new customers to win additional business for C&S.
Support new developments through to successful customer adoption, including part submission warrant with samples and update procedures to ensure quality compliance.
Preparing and negotiating quotations while protecting margins.
Source and develop new capabilities within the area (e.g. ultrasonic welding, embroidery, quilting) according to customer requirements.
Manage / rectify any quality issues arising from the development process or changing customer requirements.
Assist in the development and promotion of marketing material for the C&S area, including presentation at customers and exhibitions.
Source and purchase components.
Planning, monitoring stock levels & supply of product requiring any additional service.
Support Creative Solutions Co-ordinator to maintain service at all times.
Such other duties as may arise from time to time that are reasonably required.
Maintain stock levels within the bought-out fabrics (BOF), department.
Ensure that the service level is maintained at the agreed rate.
Analyse demand and set appropriate stock targets based on demand and lead-times.
Gather quality data in relation to bought out fabrics liaising with the QA department and Strategic Purchasing Manager to help resolve supplier quality issues, to maintain quality at the highest standard.
Monitor supplier performance ensuring that our suppliers are providing the necessary services to our business, and work with the Strategic Purchasing Manager to improve poor performers.
Ensure the invoice documentation is correct and that these are then passed onto the relevant department maintaining price variant records.
C&S / upholstery operations desirable.
Manufacture, specifications, costing, lay planning and production of prototypes.
Attention to detail.
Good verbal and written communication.
Responsive, proactive and responsible.
Excellent Excel skills.
Knowledge of Cut & sew services or sewing skills.
Ability to use initiative & demonstrate adaptability.
Clean driving license and passport as customer visits will be required in this role.
Good numeracy skills
Experience in a textile design and product development background.
Experience of face to face contact with customers.
Experience of working in a buying or supply chain role & dealing with suppliers.
Knowledge & understanding of yarn or fabric manufacturing is desirable.
A textile related degree would be beneficial.
GCSE Maths and English.
General Comments/Other relevant information:
An interest in textiles and design would be advantageous.
Must have the ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a team and be willing to travel as and when required.
