Experienced Seamstress/ Pattern Maker
Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
Persian-inspired luxury womenswear brand Sarvin is looking for an experienced seamstress/dressmaker who specialises in pattern drafting/cutting, garment sampling and small-scale garment production. The businesses is looking for an experienced dressmaker/seamstress to help draft our patterns and make garment samples right through to the full collection.
The successful candidate will have:
- Existing knowledge of high-quality, industrial standard machinery, including a buttonhole machine.
- Experience in using a flatbed sewing machine, over lockers and blind hemmers for different fabrics, including sequin and jersey materials.
- the ability to travel to Huddersfield, the North West, or the North East to work, and can easily commute to the Huddersfield studio.
- At least 3 years’ experience in dressmaking and pattern cutting.
- Worked with similar garments such as couture/bridal/shirts/jerseys/sequins/silk dresses in the past.
- A good eye for detail and creative flair and can work well under pressure.
- An ability to understand and execute the requirements for seam allowances/hems / cutting lines/tolerances for shrinkage as directed.
- The ability to demonstrate high standards of sewing and finishing skills (e.g. neat, straight lines for seams and hems).
- A standard of spoken and written English with good communication skills.
- The ability to work independently to create high quality retail clothing products.
- Strong ‘Tech Pack’ skills.
Hours of Work:
- Flexible contract or part-time working basis (16-18 hours a week).
Rates of Pay:
- This opportunity has a starting hourly rate of £11 per hour, with periodic increases based on experience and production quality.
